Aramis Trio

Biography

“The Aramis Trio provided an impressive proof that youthful passion and sensitive emotion can be combined without having to resort to cliché. The musicians convinced equally with virtuosity, forcefulness and soft intimacy." (Translation: Aramis Trio)
Südwest Presse, 29th September 2010

The Aramis Trio, founded in May 2009, named itself after one of Alexandre Dumas’ musketeers. And indeed, the musketeers’ famous motto "all for one – one for all" could hardly have found better modern champions than this piano trio: The way the Aramis Trio’s passionate play and convincing interpretations live up to this motto has had press and audiences alike respond with the greatest enthusiasm.

The three young musicians have found prominent and devoted mentors. Among them are Jörg-Wolfgang Jahn and Volker David Kirchner at the University of Music Karlsruhe, who laid the foundation for their musical development, and the tutors at the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA), an institution founded by Hatto Beyerle. Notably the Fauré Quartet has been instrumental in guiding the Aramis Trio since its early days and has been a major factor in shaping the trio’s style. Repeated work with the members of the Trio Fontenay and Trio Opus 8 has provided additional musical impulses.

The Aramis Trio has presented its skills at renowned festivals, among them the "Heidelberger Frühling", the Festival Pablo Casals in Prades, and the Orlando Festival in Kerkrade. Concert tours which also featured Beethoven’s Triple Concerto led the three musicians through Germany as well as to France, Austria, Italy, Poland, Norway and Holland.

In September 2009 the trio won the Villa Musica's Cours et concours and half a year later the Concours "Charles Hennen" in the Netherlands. The Aramis Trio is also currently being sponsored by the Anna Ruths foundation.

Live-concert and CD recordings with the SWR document the Aramis Trio’s musical productivity. In its work the ensemble strives to present its audience with past and contemporary compositions that are less well known along with old-time favourites – again following Alexandre Dumas: "Happier than the happiest is the man who succeeds in making others happy." (Alexandre Dumas, père)
