Heiner Reich (1986) received his first cello tutoring at the age of six from David Raiser and continued his education as a junior student with Prof. Michael Flaksman and with Prof. Mario de Secondi at the Musikhochschule Trossingen. He started his professional studies in 2005 with Prof. Martin Ostertag in Karlsruhe and later with Prof. Peter Hörr in Leipzig. In September 2011 he became a grantee of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Bayerischer Rundfunk. Master classes with Heinrich Schiff und Arto Noras and others deepened his musical education.

Apart from several national awards in Jugend musiziert he won the 3rd prize as well as a special prize in the International Dotzauer Competition in 2005.

As a soloist he has performed with the Kammersinfonie Calw, the Jungen Kammerorchester Stuttgart and the Oikomusica Tübingen. One major influence in his musical career has always been chamber music. He was invited to perform at the Musikfestwochen Donau-Oberschwaben and the international chamber-music festival Westfalen Classics. Concert tours led him not only through Germany but also to England, Italy, Japan and China.

Heiner Reich is a grantee of the Oscar und Vera Ritter Foundation as well as the Friends of the Villa Musica. For several years he played a Cello by J. B. Grancino (Mailand ca. 1700) awarded by the Landessammlung Baden-Württemberg. He now plays a cello built by Urs Mächler, Speyer.
